Many thanks for taking the time to download this Rebel Riffs material. The song contained within the zip file is called Cajun Crunch Rebel Riffs material is best enjoyed when played on a BIG system, or listen to it through earphones - these tracks are best when played LOUD. Also as usual, the track is somewhere in the region of 7 mins long, which is partly the reason for it's HUGE file size. Many apologies for these extreme sizes but both the material and the samples take up lots of space - you will see why... Since posting the last RR tracks at the beginning of the year, the Riffers have wandered to places far and wide such as Spain, Portugal and Morocco (happening places all - where have you been) spreading the good word. We've also met a lot more friends online where we've been very active. Seemed like we'd never have enough time to make any more tracks but somehow, we managed, and the results will be posted sometime at the end of May/early June. However, some members of our little collective have been working in the XM format while the rest of us have been completing our usual GUS based 'demos'. Stix, our percussive expert, Ghostie, the world music freak and BizKid (hint, hint!) have all been working away in FT2 and have been coming up with track after track of pretty neat stuff. Not so many of these tracks have SOUNDED like Rebel Riffs material, though, so we've argued mightily about releasing them. The track here is Ghostie's "Cajun Crunch" one of our particular faves! Catch the really hugh voices once the track gets moving...brrrrrr Who are REBEL RIFFS? An entity which includes a top flight record producer, a seasoned arranger, vulgar and ill-mannered musicians of all shapes and sizes and as many samples and patches as we can lay our hands on. We have several addresses dotted around the online world: Internet: sgilmore@rebel.win-uk.net Compuserve: 100431,1102@compuserve.com sgilmore@worldscope.net AOL: rebriffer@aol.com FTP: ftp://ftp.ibmpcug.co.uk/users/dsp BBS:Digital Sound Power, home of the Reb's and can be contacted on the Internet at it's home page on the World Wide Web: http://www.ibmpcug.co.uk/~dsp - keep on eye out for the Rebel Riff's Home Page while you are there :-) (44) 1734 615379. WWW: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/clan_gilmore is also a decent Rebel Riffs site as its infested with our very own MC himself! About as weird as it gets mind - you have been warned!! We'd be delighted to hear from anyone interested in our material, which you will find dotted all over the place. Anyone interested in hearing further RR material, drop us a line and introduce yourself... The REBEL RIFFS Music The files we generally make are not MOD files per se, but DOS EXE files (similar to demos) because of the file limitations of the tracker program we use (Dynamic Studio). We will continue to release our tracks this way - even though it means GUS users only - because of the power and style of the music we make. If you have a GUS card, download a Rebel Riffs track and you'll see what we mean. If you don't have a GUS card, why not :-) - well, we are trying to make as many tracks for other soundcard users too, so we'll be experimenting with different formats... Tracker Talk Dynamic Studio (SUPPORT SHAREWARE AND REGISTER!) is a 16 Channel MOD tracker with some absolutely Dynamite features......check it out if you see the demo version anywhere...or you can get a copy of the demo direct from Rebel Riffs by emailing us at any of the above addresses. FastTracker II, ScreamTracker and Impulse are the most straight forward tracker 'composers' around and we just love the new version of Cubic (the player to be seen with :-Š ). Mod4Win is also decent, but only if your world is enclosed in 'Windoze' Being the aural magpies we are, the samples we use come from everywhere (but special thanks to Sound & Vision BBS, Anthem BBS and SunSite Europe for their extensive patch libraries). Many of the instrument samples come from the excellent Propats collection of GUS patches, and the even more excellent (nay totally wonderful) SoundWave collections by Chad Gould (cgould@gate.net) The main vocal and fx samples come from the following Internet Newsgroups: alt.binaries.sounds.movies, alt.binaries.sounds.misc, alt.binaries.sounds.cartoons, alt.binaries.sounds.tv etc. You will also find Rebel Riffs themselves are active on most of the 'MOD' type newsgroups (ie alt.binaries.sounds.mods etc) ALL POSTERS NOTE: If we use your samples, wherever possible, we will try to credit you. If you find we have not, please contact us and we'll make sure you are credited for your work. The samples you can use as we do, the song is copyright......you may not use it professionally without our permission! We give you the track for nothing, we would not expect you to try and make money from it. Happy Listening from the REBEL RIFFS crew!!! Thanks to all the people who bothered to write to us about Rebel Riffs and those hardy souls on Usenet and CIS's UK Music Forum without whom....and very special respect to all our fellow tracker/composers, long may you code on...
